Everyone has to grow up, but if you're a vampire in the noir world of Kristin Stefanos' novels you never have to grow old. The breakout supernatural author is back with a vengeance with the second novel in her series:
Avenging Angel's Scythe
With the second novel, Stefanos catapults her witty, pugnacious sanguinem vitae, Alexandra Drakis, out of college and into adulthood forcing her to drag a host of supernatural buddies along for the ride as she attempts to live a normal life which is anything but normal. The result is a rich tapestry of imperfect relationships, emotional turmoil, sexual tension, danger, violence and vicious yet alluring surpernatural critters of all sorts.
We catch up with Alexandra Drakis at the beginning of Avenging Angel's Scythe now a well respected trauma surgeon, mostly happily married, and mother of three unruly teenagers. In what little spare time she can carve out, she remains the personal property of Damian, a 200 year old Haitian vampire and leader of the Louisiana vampire coven. Fans of the first book will be happy to hear Sean the good-natured alcoholic satyr hasn't gone very far, nor has Cynthia the matronly leader of the Illinois coven. And there are plenty of intriguing new characters including a werewolf on the lam from his former pack and a stoic Romanian vampiress harboring a terrible secret.
Nothing's static in the universe Stefanos creates. Lives change, relationships change. Everyone is forced to adapt to the unpredictable in a place where good an evil are a continual balancing act . Enter the seductive world of Avenging Angel's Scythe where every now and again, the monsters win.
